Context

Michal Dabrowsky, a Marseille-based videographer (documentary, short film, concert capture), saw Alexandre's portfolio and wanted his own — this time built for video. A showcase worthy of his films that he could run himself.

The challenge

Moving from photo to video changes everything: heavy media to stream, ~80% mobile traffic (the hero has to work on a small screen first), and a back-office simple enough for a videographer to manage films, photos, reviews and every text on the site on his own.

Before

Work scattered between Instagram and file links, with no showcase that presented the films properly or set his three formats apart.

After

A site that structures documentary, short film and concert work — triptych hero included — that Michal runs himself from a back-office, without touching a line of code.

The approach

Next.js 16 (App Router, Server Components), TypeScript and Tailwind. A "triptych" hero — three vertical clips, one per format — designed mobile-first. Videos and images self-hosted on the VPS for controlled streaming, with optimized WebP posters; films accept hosted files as well as YouTube links. Dark and light themes. An Auth.js-protected back-office to manage films, photos, reviews (show/hide), texts, FAQ and the about section. Data on Neon (serverless Postgres) via Drizzle ORM. Self-hosted deployment with Docker.

Previews

Triptych hero: documentary, short film and concert as vertical clips
Films page: catalog filterable by format, with durations
Back-office: managing films, photos, reviews and texts

Outcome

Delivered and live at dbsky.nocly.fr, fully manageable by Michal himself. A second complete client delivery — from design to hosting — that extends the architecture of Alexandre's portfolio to a heavier case: video streaming, format categorization and a mobile-first approach.
